Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys Season 2 Episodes 1 – 3 An Honest Review (Spoilers)

The first season of The Boys was pretty great in my opinion and they got to the action right away and kept it a steady pace throughout the entire 1st season. The end of the 1st season left off with Butcher(Karl Urban) finding out that his wife and Homelander(Anthony Starr) had a child together and he’s also framed for the murder of Stillwell(Elisabeth Shue), leaving fans wanting more and wondering where things were headed.

The Boys is probably the first time I’ve ever watched the show before reading the comics in regards to comic book adaptations but I am a huge fan of Garth Ennis so I did catch up on the comics in between seasons and seeing there are lots of differences I’m not totally worried about knowing everything that’s going to happen ahead of time.

The 2nd season starts off with Butcher being dropped and waking up in a parking lot in Fort Worth, Indiana and then switches over to Hughie and the rest of the boys to show what a dire situation they are in all while being the most wanted criminals in the country. Switching over to the Supers point of view the show then gives us a peak at a new recruit wanting to replace Lamplighter in the 7, Homlander’s interaction with this new recruit gives us a peak into the fact that he’s not hiding his psycho side quite as well anymore as he bursts the guy’s eardrums with no worries about what anyone thought about it, this season also introduces a power struggle of sorts between Homelander and the CEO of Vought International Stan Edgar, I actually really liked this and thought it added a system of checks and balances of sort for the supers.

The show also starts making a big deal of Super Terrorists or Super Villains but as far as I can remember they only introduced two of them and the first one gets killed by Noir Black like 5 seconds after he’s introduced. The other “Super Terrorist” we see is actually Kimiko’s little brother and the show starts making a pretty big deal of him, even hinting at one point that he’s the key to taking down Vought, about 5 seconds before the deputy director of the CIA’s head blows up right in front of Hughie and the boys but then he dies a few episodes later and I am still left wondering why they put such an importance on him, With only 3 episodes out so far I guess there could be more to this story.

We are also introduced to a new member of the 7 named Stormfront who has electricity based powers and plays the part of the cool edgy chick, except I thought it seemed a bit forced…sort of like when someone in high school tries to act cool for their friends and you can tell it’s not really how they are…the character is cool and all, I just don’t think the actress playing her is doing her justice but like I said only 3 episodes so far, perhaps she’s supposed to come across this way.

Overall I thought they moved the plot along nicely this season and that there were some really cool parts, like the whale part…you know you loved it too. I for one can’t wait to see more episodes, I actually have no clue if this was the complete 2nd season or if they have more episodes on the way but either way there is a 3rd season coming at some point and I can’t wait…I give it a solid 8 out of 10 and would suggest it to anyone…a great show!

The Mandalorian Returns For Season 2 At The End of October And Everyone Is Missing Baby Yoda

If I’m being honest here, Disney Plus has been a bit of a disappointment for me with so many great sounding original series planned but not released yet the one saving grace has been The Mandalorian series and luckily they aren’t taking too long to release the second season with it set to arrive on October 30.

With a lot to like about the show including great acting by Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers and Werner Herzog among others and a great atmospheric feel and look, you can clearly see why the show has been a big hit but among all the things that make this show so good one of them stands way above the rest and that’s everyone’s favorite little green guy Baby Yoda.

With season 2 just around the corner people are sharing their love for Baby Yoda on Twitter today and I thought with all the bullshit in the news every day maybe something a little bit more lighthearted was called for…so let’s take a look at some of the tweets.

As you can see…people are excited for the return of Baby Yoda…errr I mean The Mandalorian

Blasphemy!!!! How dare you….savages…

Well, it’s his name now…so deal with it bro.

I would pay to see this episode…

It’s only guaranteed if the world doesn’t end before then and the way things are going these days…well fingers crossed I guess.

Well the ego is for good reason…he’s fucking awesome!

Are you more excited for the show or just Baby Yoda?

An Honest Review Of Lucifer Season 5 (Spoilers)

Based on the character from the Neil Gaiman Sandman comics who would later go on to be featured in his own spin-off comic book series Lucifer follows the exploits of Lucifer Morningstar, a night club owner, playboy and well…the devil himself.

The first 4 seasons were decent but they were done when Fox was running the show and I always kind of felt they couldn’t really bring the comic book character totally to life on a channel like Fox and although I did enjoy the first 4 seasons they were never able to make the show as dark as it should have been in my opinion.

With Netflix buying the rights for the 5th season and seemingly a 6th as well by the looks of it, I was hoping and expecting for the tone of the show to change a bit and be a bit more mature on the streaming service as many Netflix series are known for the dark and gritty tones they take on…but I have to say as far as that part of it goes I was pretty disappointed, besides a single gratuitous ass shot of Lucifer nothing about the show has really changed at all and it very well could have been Fox that released this 5th season because there is no notable difference.

That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the newest season, like I said before, I did enjoy the first 4 seasons and the show isn’t horrible for sticking with that formula. The season starts with Lucifer back in Hell and brings a new interesting story arc to the show but that only lasts like 2 episodes and then everything is basically back to how it was before that…making his trip to Hell pretty much pointless to the outcome of the show or any storylines within.

I did enjoy the addition of Lucifer’s twin brother Michael but don’t feel that the show has done everything it could with what could be a great dynamic between brothers and the perfect juxtaposition of good and evil, overall that story arc has been a bit underwhelming.

Overall I did enjoy the newest season but mostly just as a time waster and not so much as a show I sunk myself into and really cared about all that much. They started out numerous different new stories and dilemmas for pretty much every major character but the problem is they never brought any of those to fruition and the end of the season just left us hanging on every single story arc…Lucifer’s powers come and go with no real explanation…Detective Douche finds out Lucifer is really the devil and that’s about as far as that got…the season just felt unfinished to me but like I said I did enjoy watching it…I’d give it a 6 out of 10 but really hope to see better next season as the cliffhanger with god really left me wanting to see what happens next.

What are your thoughts?

Did you like the new season or were you hoping for more when Netflix took over?

Netflix Is Working On A Live Action Resident Evil Series

With the success of The Witcher series it was only a matter of time until Netflix adapted another video game into a series and according to an announcement made today that next series will be Resident Evil. According to Netflix the series will be headed up by Constantin Film who’s also responsible for the 6 most recent Resident Evil movies.

The series is seemingly going to be an original story taking place in the Resident Evil universe but separate from past story arcs we’ve seen, focusing on two sisters named Jade and Billie Wesker and their journey to a corporate town to start their lives and the mysteries and dangers surrounding both the town and their father…who may or may not be Albert Wesker, the antagonist from the video game series. There will also reportedly be a time jump at some point of 16 years or so to a dystopian future overrun by zombies, 6 billion to be exact…with only 15 million human beings left alive…

Executive Producer and Writer Andrew Dabb is know for his work on Supernatural is joined by director Bronwen Hughes, known for his work on The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad he will direct at least the first two episodes…no word yet on whether or not the series will be tied to the movies at all and Netflix hasn’t issued any other info on much…No cast or release date yet but certainly something I’m actually looking forward to seeing, which is rare on Netflix these days.

What are your thoughts?

Are you excited for the series or do you think it will bomb?

Comedy Central Cancels Drunk History After 6 Great Seasons

The show that taught a lot of us way more history than we were expecting to learn while at the same time being highly entertaining has finally come to an end, although the 7th season was in production before the pandemic hit Comedy Central has decided to just let the show go due in part to the pandemic and in part to their desire to focus more on adult animation type TV shows.

Featuring many different actors doing some very fun skits based around historical events the show found a near perfect formula for comedy. Featuring a multitude of celebrities such as Winona Ryder, Tessa Thompson and Seth Rogen among others I’m certain the show will be missed by many including myself.

With there only being a couple live scripted shows left on Comedy Central and the slew of 90’s animation reboots coming up including Beavis & Butthead and Daria is this the beginning of the end of the Comedy Central we’ve all grown to love? Is it just slowly becoming an adult animation channel? I for one am totally okay with that and am looking forward to seeing which direction Comedy Central takes from here.

What are youtr thoughts?

Will you miss the show or are you okay with seeing it go away?

Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Review (Spoilers)

Based on the comic book series by Gerard Way The first season of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix did a great job of introducing the characters and giving fans a peak into their flaws and self loathing as well as the bond they share through a neglectful upbringing and left off leaving fans wanting more.

With the second season finally released on Netflix the story starts out with each of the 7 being dropped off in the same alley but in different years, forcing them to start lives back in 1963 and bringing a new dynamic to the show, I enjoy time travel and parallel universes on shows if done right and I honestly feel they did a good job with it here for the most part

The second season not only further fleshes out the 7’s back story but delves more into Sir Reginald Hargreeve’s past and his motivations for adopting the 7 in the first place as well as revealing that he may not even be of this earth…I was kind of annoyed they didn’t go into any more detail with that.

We are also introduced to a new character named Lila who ends up having her own motivations for seeking out the 7 as well as being the adopted daughter of The Handler, who is the main antagonist of this season. I have a few issues with the character of Lila as her power is she can reflect other people’s powers but is surprised when she sees 5 teleport, as if she’s never seen anyone with a power before…so how does she even know about her own power and how to use it? I’m wondering if the handler has had her hunting all the children born on that day and they just didn’t mention it, either way I’m very interested to see where her story arc goes.

Every show these days has plot holes, especially those involving time travel of any kind and I try not to let it bother me too much but little things like 5 being “out of fuel” to teleport just because it’s convenient to the plot is a little lame but with so many good things about the show I can look past it and be fine with it.

I also liked that they touched on the subject of racism, even if it was the racism of 1963, it’s still a great thing to bring more attention to , especially in the world we’re living in today..the kind of things shown on the show really happened to POC back then and still do today, it’s important for us not to deny that and pretend otherwise.

Overall I really enjoyed this second season and love how they left things off with the parallel timeline and the Sparrow Academy added into the mix, which if anything like the comics should be very interesting. I wouldn’t say the acting on the show is award winning , Ellen Page is good but sometimes feels a bit flat but perhaps that’s just the character she’s playing’s affect. The show is unique and fun to watch and I certainly don’t need a show to be perfect to enjoy it.

I give the second season a solid 7 out of 10 and would suggest watching it for sure.

What are your thoughts?

Did you enjoy the new season or did you like season 1 better?

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Turns 15 Today Here’s How Twitter Is Celebrating

It may be Obama’s birthday but just as many people are honoring today for the fact the TV series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia turns 15 today. The show quickly became a cultural phenomenon thanks in part to it’s unique brand of humor and it’s great cast including Danny DeVito, Howie Day and Kaitlin Olson among others. Twitter users are tweeting out birthday wishes to the show and I thought it’d be fun to take a look at some of them, so without further adieu let’s get started.

Many people would agree with this sentiment and yes I could always use a nice egg…

It was part of our lives for many years and people are sharing their favorite episodes.

Even people that aren’t die-hard fans still appreciate the glorious memes that were inspired by the show.

Although it’s not everyone’s favorite show it does tend to be in a lot of people’s top 5 list.

Some people are just tweeting their version of a happy birthday song.

It was certainly made when there were a lot fewer snowflakes in the world.

Man that’s a lot of TV watching…

It is a great show, which we don’t get too often these days.

An Honest Review of SYFY’s 12 Monkeys

Amanda Schull from 12 Monkeys

Adapted from the 1995 film of the same name starring Brad Pitt, The SYFY series 12 Monkeys explores the concept of time travel and depicts the struggles of a group of people who use it to try and stop a plague that wiped out most of humanity. Time travel can be tricky to pull off on a tv series or a movie, even when it’s just a small part of the plot but when it is the whole theme of your show it can be even tougher to pull off without confusing the audience but like the film in 1995, the series does a pretty decent job with how they handle the time travel aspect of the show.

The show mostly centers on Dr. Cassie Railly (Amanda Schull) and a time traveler from the future named James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and their attempts to stop an evil and mysterious organization known as The Army of the 12 Monkeys. As with any show involving time travel there are a ton of twists and turns to keep you guessing through 4 seasons of this science fiction tv series.

The Good

Although there aren’t any huge names attached to the series the cast is full of talent and Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull have great onscreen chemistry , really bringing the two main characters to life, plus Kirk Acevedo becomes a bigger part of the series in season 2, best known for his roles on HBO’s Oz and the science fiction series Fringe he helps to round out a decent cast.

Another good thing about the series is the way they approach explaining time travel, it starts out as basic as you can when it comes to time travel and slowly throughout the 4 seasons will complicate it a little more here and there, making it much easier to keep up with and follow the constantly changing plot. The inventors of time travel are constantly learning more about it as the show goes on and we get to learn right along with them.

The Bad

There’s not a ton bad to say about the show, I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece by any means but it is a decent show with 4 seasons to keep any science fiction fan busy for awhile. I guess the one bad thing I can think of would be the one aspect of the time traveling that is really tough to avoid and that would be the fact that any character that dies can always be brought back, either through traveling back and grabbing a different version of them from before they died or just traveling back and stopping their death. The fear of losing one of your favorite characters can be the main draw of some shows and 12 Monkeys is missing that feeling you get when you wonder if they’ll make it through a tough situation or not.

Is It Worth Watching?

If you’re into science fiction at all I believe you’d most likely enjoy this show, I wouldn’t say it’ll change your life or you’ll become a superfan or anything but 12 Monkeys will keep you busy with 47 episodes over 4 seasons and it will keep you guessing and stay unpredictable right up to the last minute. I would suggest this show to any science fiction fan and after finishing up season 4 last night I feel like my time was well spent on an enjoyable series. You can watch it on Hulu or get it at the link I provide below.

An Honest Review Of AMC’s Into The Badlands

Back at the end of 2015 the series Into The Badlands premiered on AMC and has for the most part flew right under most people’s radars. The show takes place around 500 years after a war that ended civilization as we know it and in a world where everyone shuns guns so that pretty much everything is settled with sword fights, think the matrix if it was a western where guns didn’t exist.

The world is now run by Barons who control different sections of what used to be The United States and each Baron has an army of men called Clippers who are under the control of a regent. The show follows one of these clippers/regents named Sunny as he strives to find redemption for past wrongs and all the people he has killed in the name of his Baron and while on this journey meets a young man named MK who has mystical powers that cause him to be unstoppable when he is cut and bleeds, this mysticism becomes a huge part of the show as it goes on.

One of the best parts of the series are the fight scenes, they have a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon feel to them and are just a blast to watch. If you like old school kung fu movies you will most likely love this show. When there is a full scale battle on the screen it’s almost magical to watch these fights as people gracefully float through the air doing bicycle kicks and whatever else you can dream up for crazy moves.

The main character of the show, Sunny, is played by Daniel Wu and he is joined by some great actors such as Martin Csokas, who is absolutely brilliant as Quinn, an evil and ruthless baron and main antagonist of the series as well as Nick Frost, who has been a favorite of mine ever since Sean of the Dead, his addition to the show in season 2 was the best decision they could have made because he’s just effin great.

The series was canceled early this year after the 3rd season and although it ended sooner than I feel it should have there are 32 episodes over 3 seasons to enjoy and sink yourself into for a few binge-worthy nights in bed. I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect show by any means but it is rather enjoyable if you just take it for what it is…A fun little show with fun little fight scenes. It’s a good series and a shame that it flew under the radar to the point of cancellation.

Top 21 Best Rick and Morty Characters

Revolving around the lives and adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith, Rick and Morty is hands down the most genius animated show ever made. Delving into such concepts as parallel dimensions, cloning, mini universes and so many other mind boggling ideas, it’s a show that constantly has you thinking of “What ifs?”. Airing 3 seasons so far the show has been a huge hit and has a ton of fans, with season 4 set to air on November 10 I thought it a good time to go over some of my favorite characters from the almost endless list that Rick and Morty has featured. This is by no means a definitive list, just some of my favorite characters, I am not listing any “Interdimensional Cable” characters because I plan on doing a separate article on those.

Rick Sanchez

When talking about the characters on this show you of course have to talk about Rick Sanchez and his family first. Inspired by Doc Brown from Back to the Future, Rick Sanchez is an alcoholic mad scientist of sorts and is considered to be the smartest man not only in his universe but in any universe. A huge part of the show is all the cool gadgets that Rick invents, if you can imagine it then he can make it, for instance on one episode he invents a helmet that makes a dog super smart and because of this dogs end up taking over the planet, just a small example of the zaniness this show has in store.

Morty Smith

The grandson of Rick Sanchez and the other main protagonist of the show Morty Smith is dragged along on missions with his grandfather , half the time being a hinderance and the other half helping Rick out of jams. Between all the crazy adventures with Rick and his normal teenage problems Morty is always going through some kind of hell but in the most amusing ways. He is inspired by Marty McFly from Back to the Future . One episode has Rick make a love potion for Morty so he can win over the girl of his dreams and the chaos that ensues because of this is beyond entertaining.

Summer Smith

Rick’s other grandchild and Morty’s sister Summer is always competing with Morty for her grandfather’s attention and typically gets herself in some kind of trouble doing so, although she has saved Rick’s ass a couple of times and occasionally comes out with great one liners such as “I’m carping all them diems”. One episode has Summer use Rick’s enlargement ray to make her boobs bigger and she ends up as a giant inside-out woman instead.

Buy the Summer Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/2LThygh

Beth Smith

Beth is the daughter of Rick Sanchez and is considered to be very much like her father, in other words a narcissistic sociopath but a genius as well. a lot of Beth’s storylines revolve around the fact that her marriage is falling apart and her strained relationship with her father who just came back into her life after 20 years or so causing her to have some abandonment issues. One episode depicts how Rick has to make her an entire little world of her own so she wouldn’t hurt the other kids in the neighborhood as a little girl.

buy the Beth with wine glass Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/2MjKL3b

Jerry Smith

The Patriarch of the Smith family Jerry really has no control over his family or any respect from them. almost all the storylines involving Jerry are about his insecurities and how he is constantly worried about losing his family to Rick. My favorite episode involving Jerry has got to be the one where he ends up in multiversal daycare just fro all the Jerry’s in the different parallel dimensions, he’s typically just a big hassle to have around so that’s where the Rick’s bring the Jerry’s when they go on adventures.

Buy the Jerry Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/2LUSRjS

Jessica is the girl in school who Morty has a crush on and is the one he uses a love potion on in 1 episode. As far as I know the show has said her last name ,if she even has one. Jessica is the cute redhead that morty is always trying to impress and typically getting himself in some kind of trouble doing so.

Principal Gene Vagina

The principal at the high school that Morty and Summer go to Principal Vagina often introduces himself by his full name and then makes sure to add “No relation” at the end. He also likes to let people know that regardless of his name that he is in charge.

Mr. Goldenfold

Mr. Goldenfold is Morty’s math teacher and is known to have inappropriate thoughts about his students, Summer being one of them.He also has an issue with eating feces and on one episode is being felt up by Morty while Morty’s sleeping and just stands there and says “It’s not my fault this is happening”. He fits right in with the twisted cast of characters.

Buy the Mr. Goldenfold Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/2APb4J9

Summer’s boyfriend Ethan doesn’t have a huge role on the show but has been featured in a few episodes and was the one to blame when Summer enlarged herself trying to get bigger boobs. He also allowed rick to build “Anatomy Park”(an amusement park inside his body) and explained on one episode how his brother brought him in the bushes as a kid and made him “feel like a girl”.

Doofus Rick

An alternate version of Rick Sanchez from Dimension J-19 Zeta 7 Doofus Rick is a far less intelligent version of Rick who comes from a dimension where everyone eats their own feces. He is unlike any other Rick and him and Jerry bond because of this.

Buy the Doofus Rick Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/30NEuSA

Evil Morty

The only other version of Morty that really matters besides the main one , Evil Morty is as smart as most Ricks and seeks to control all Ricks and Mortys , We last see him winning the presidency of the citadel of Ricks and making his evil speech about his dastardly plans. He is the main antagonist of the show at this point and everyone is just waiting to see what he does next.

Buy the Evil Morty Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/2p5axjx

Mr. Meeseeks

A race of blue skinned humanoid creatures, Mr. Meeseeks exist purely to complete tasks for other people, yu press the button on the Meeseeks box they show up and you ask them to do something and when they do they will cease to exist. existence is pain for the Meeseeks so completing their task is very important to them. They try to help Jerry improve his golf swing and just can’t help him and they rebel because of it.

Buy the Mr. Meeseeks Pajamas/Costume here https://amzn.to/2Isohvx

Scary Terry

Clearly inspired by Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm St. horror movies. He is featured in the episode “Rickception” where Rick and Morty hop into people’s dreams to plant the idea of a good grade in his math teacher’s brain. Scary Terry has mini swords for fingers instead of knives and loves to say “bitch” after everything.

Although Rick won’t admit it Birdperson is his best friend and they have fought in countless intergalactic battles together. Half man and Half bird, Birdperson comes from another planet and dies at the end of season 2 during his wedding but returns as a cyborg known as “Phoenix Person”. He is an intergalactic spy, hero and soldier.

Buy the Birdperson Funko Pop! here https://amzn.to/33cuP9S

Revolio Clockberg Jr.

Revolio Or as Rick calls him “Gearhead” is a robotic looking humanoid consisting of many gears that keep him running, he will take any chance he gets to chew anyone’s ear off about the “Gear Wars”. On one episode Rick rips off his gear testicles and attaches them to his face causing other gear people to throw up cogs and bolts.

Another one of Rick’s good friends Squanchy is a cat like creature who uses the word “squanch” way too much. He wears a bracelet that says “Rick’s BFF” and has a potion hidden in one of his teeth that turns him into a giant beast, which he uses at Birdperson’s wedding to defend his friends.

Abradolf Lincler

Half Abraham Lincoln and Half Adolf Hitler he was created by Rick in an attempt to make a completely neutral world leader but Rick considers him a huge failure. He looks at Rick as a father and has constant conflicting emotions.

Get the Abradolf Lincler coffee mug here https://amzn.to/2ntRv6e

Krombopulos Michael

A Gromfolite assassin Krombopulos often purchases weapons from Rick to do his killing and although he always seems real friendly and chipper he lacks any moral compass and is often heard saying “Oh boy, here we go killing again”

Unity is Rick’s ex and also happens to be a hive mind, when we meet her on the show she is controlling a whole planet and Rick decides to take advantage of it and have sex with pretty much everyone on the planet, even being shot from a cannon into a stadium to land right on someone in a bed.

Mr. Poopybutthole

First appearing on an episode where parasite aliens take over as different zany characters we are led to believe he is one of the parasites but find out at the end of the episode when Beth shoots him that he isn’t a parasite but an old friend of the family. He has had small parts in a couple other episodes and was in one of the promos for season 3 before it came out.

Buy Mr. Poopybutthole Socks here https://amzn.to/2ARF872

The Vindicators

I’m going to include these characters as a group rather than going through each one individually. They are basically a parody of The Avengers, a superhero team with various powers. Vance Maximus who is kind of a play on Captain America is the leader of the group. Supernova is a female heroine who is a parody of DC Comic Starfire, then we have Million Ants and just like it sounds it is a man made up of 1 million ants and Alan Rails who controls a ghost train with a whistle. There’s also a half cyborg crocodile named Crocubot and then last but not least is Noob Noob, who s the grunt of the group and made to do all the cleaning up and chores around the headquarters.
